1. Who is responsible
The controller for SlideSignal’s website and related support is Damian Witkowski, Rüttenscheider Str. 323, 45131 Essen, Germany.
Email: d.witko@icloud.com.
2. Information we handle
Website. The hosting service receives the connection information needed to deliver pages, such as an IP address, request time, and requested resource. The site uses no advertising trackers or analytics scripts.
Mac app. SlideSignal stores app settings and project data in local storage on your devices. During license activation, the Mac app sends the license key over HTTPS to the license service so it can validate the purchase. The service stores an HMAC-based license hash, device identifier and name, activation timestamps, and grant status. Dodo Payments may validate the original key. The service uses these records to issue and validate a license lease, normally allowing up to seven days of offline use. API keys and slideshow content are not sent to the license service.
The Mac app uses macOS Keychain for API keys and the license key. If you connect social accounts, browser-based login and OAuth sessions are handled by the relevant social provider and may be stored by your browser according to its settings.
AI providers and hosting. If you choose an AI provider, requests are sent to that provider under your account and its terms. The website and related cloud functions are hosted using ChatGPT Sites and Cloudflare services, which process requests needed to operate them.
Orders and licenses. Dodo Payments handles checkout and payment information for direct purchases and sends us order and license events needed to deliver access. We do not receive your full payment card details. If you bought through AppSumo, AppSumo’s checkout and offer terms govern that purchase and its records; we receive only the information needed to recognize and support the entitlement.
YouTube connection
When you connect YouTube, Google asks you to authorize channel access and video uploads. SlideSignal reads your channel ID, name and thumbnail so you can choose the channel, and uploads the videos and metadata you explicitly publish. Refresh credentials are stored in macOS Keychain; channel details are stored locally on your Mac. The SlideSignal connection service, hosted through ChatGPT Sites and Cloudflare, forwards authorization codes and refresh requests to Google over HTTPS. It does not intentionally persist these credentials or log request bodies. Video files go from your Mac to YouTube. YouTube connection data is not sent to AI providers, sold, or used for advertising.
You can revoke access in your Google account connections. Revocation prevents further authorized access; videos already published remain on YouTube until you remove them there. Local channel records remain on your Mac until removed. See Google’s privacy policy. SlideSignal’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
3. Why we use information
We use information to serve the website, respond to support, deliver downloads, activate and validate licenses, prevent duplicate activations, process orders, and meet legal obligations.
The legal basis depends on the context: performance of a contract for an order or license; legitimate interests for security, support and reliable operation; legal obligation where required; and consent where the law requires it, such as optional communications.
International processing
Hosting, payment and AI providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. The provider and account you select determine the applicable processing locations and safeguards, such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses; consult the relevant provider’s privacy and data-processing terms before sending personal data.
Retention
We keep support correspondence and order or license records for as long as needed to handle the request, operate the license, meet accounting or legal duties, and resolve disputes. Local app data remains on your devices until you remove it. Browser and provider retention is governed by those providers’ policies. We delete or anonymize information when the relevant purpose and legal retention period have ended.
4. Your rights
Subject to legal conditions, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or object to processing. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it for the future. You also have the right to complain to the competent supervisory authority. In North Rhine-Westphalia this is the Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen (LDI NRW).
To make a request, email d.witko@icloud.com. We may need enough information to verify which records belong to you.
5. Third-party services
External services linked from the website, including social networks, Dodo Payments, Cloudflare, ChatGPT Sites, and AI providers you choose, operate under their own privacy notices and terms. For Dodo’s buyer terms, see Dodo Payments Buyer Terms.
This policy may be updated when the service or applicable requirements change. The current version is always published on this page.
